Milwaukee Back On Top Of MISL, Sockers Win 6th Straight

Over the first month of the season, four MISL teams have made their mark as teams to beat: Milwaukee (5-1), Syracuse (6-2), Baltimore (4-2) and Missouri (4-2). These teams have dominated the bottom three clubs and look to continue in a tight race for the league championship.
Milwaukee returned to the top of the MISL table by demolishing expansion club St. Louis 24-4. Carlos Munoz led the Wave offense by scoring four goals.

Syracuse split their two games, winning a thriller against the Comets 18-15 on Saturday before dropping an overtime heart-breaker to St. Louis. It was the second loss to the expansion Ambush this season. Baltimore was idle this week.

In PASL action, undefeated Chicago rolled to an 8-0 win against Illinois (1-8). With the victory, the Mustangs improved to 8-0 this season, outscoring opponents 81-36. Chicago host Cincinnati Saints on January 5 at Grand Sports Arena.
Defending Ron Newman Cup champion San Diego (6-2) won their sixth straight by defeating Ontario 13-5. The Sockers lost their first two matches of the season to Dallas and Monterrey. Since then the club have outscored their opponents 54-29. San Diego will next travel to face Toros México on January 5.
The Sunday matchup between PASL Central Division rivals Hidalgo (7-1) and Dallas (6-2) ended with a back-and-forth 12-9 La Fiera victory. The game also served as a U.S. Open Cup fixture. La Fiera will next face the winner of the January 3 matchup between Texas Strikers and Austin FC.
