With the 2013-14 Professional Arena Soccer League regular season complete, attention turns to the Ron Newman Cup Playoffs. Finishing undefeated, the Chicago Mustangs (16-0) earned the right to host the finals on March 15-16 and a bye into the semifinals. Nine other teams will compete for the chance to join them.
Cleveland Freeze (10-6) enter the playoffs losers in three of the last four games. The lone victory in that stretch was against the Cincinnati Saints (5-11), their first round opponent. Currently on a 5-game winning streak, Detroit Waza Flo (10-5) earned a first round bye and will host the winner of the Cleveland-Cincinnati game. Detroit does have one regular season game to makeup and will face Illinois Piasa on Saturday.
Hidalgo La Fiera (14-2) clinched the division title and first round bye as they won the only head-to-head game with the Dallas Sidekicks (14-2). Monterrey Flash (13-3) will travel to the Allen Events Center on Saturday in their first round game against Dallas, winners of eight-straight games.
