La Fiera Advance To Ron Newman Cup Finals; Flash Players Assault Referee

Hidalgo La Fiera became the first team to join the Chicago Mustangs in the Ron Newman Cup Finals, to be held on March 15-16, by defeating their rival Monterrey Flash 9-8 in the Central Division playoff. Hidalgo will face the winner of the Pacific playoff between Las Vegas Legends and San Diego Sockers, currently in progress.

A thrilling game was marred by an ugly incident postgame. A referee was reported to be assaulted by two Monterrey players. The game official was said to have been punched in the face twice and then kicked in the ribs. The alleged players involved are Edgar “Pato” Martinez and Genoni Martinez, who was recently named to the PASL All-League First Team.
