MASL Shakeup Coming

KickThisBaltimore Blast owner Ed Hale confirmed on today’s episode of Kick This! podcast that his club has resigned from Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). A year earlier the Blast, along with five other former MISL teams, joined the league with PASL teams.

A week ago the MASL AGM was held in St. Louis and some minor changes were announced. Longtime PASL Commissioner Kevin Miliken was named Vice President of Business Development while former Syracuse owner Jonathan Ramin will serve as Vice President of Operations. Mike Zimmerman of Milwaukee Wave is now league president of the newly appointed MASL Board of Directors.

Hale stated that he has formed a new indoor soccer league, with several teams set to join him, including a new expansion club. The primary issue for forming a new league seems to be the issue of MASL, like MLS, being a “single-entity” league.

More news coming as details are released.
